A Little about Mother Whittiker

Early Life

Born in New York City, at Harlem Hospital, Mother Whittiker moved to Charlotte, North Carolina with her mother, where she lived until age twelve. She has thirteen siblings. She then moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with her grandmother and her Mother where she became united with Triumph The Church And Kingdom Of God In Christ at that time. She became a member of the Young People’s Education Band (YPE Band), attended many 7th District Youth Conferences, under the auspices of Elder E. Bernice Harris. One of the first offices that she served in with the Youth Department was local youth worker in her local church in Pittsburgh, PA. She is also a lover of music and began to sing in the youth choir and developed into a stellar soloist and has sung with various groups and choirs. She is a powerful praise and worship leader and she knows how to usher in the presence of the Lord at the appropriate time.

Church Life

Mother Whittiker was appointed as the County Youth Coordinator for Brevard County, Florida by the late Sister Mary Ruth Taylor, who was the District Youth Supervisor of the 13th Episcopal District in the 1980’s. She was elevated to Assistant District Youth Supervisor after Sis. Taylor resigned her post as District Youth Supervisor. In July of 2010, at Chautauqua 2010, Mother Carolyn D. Whittiker was appointed as the second Assistant National Youth Supervisor of Triumph The Church And Kingdom Of God In Christ by Chief Apostle W. R. Malcom. She was elevated to the office of National Youth Director in 2011, at the International Quadrennial Religious Congress in Atlanta, Georgia. She is the fourth National Youth Director to serve the organization and continues to serve today.

District Youth Department Accomplishments

  • The 13 District Black and White Banquet – Was held bi-annually to award several scholarships to deserving graduating seniors to further their education.

  • Youth Retreats

  • Focus on Education – In 1991 Mother Whittiker was presented with awards for holding the “Focus on Education”.

  • And more….

In my interview with Mother Whittiker, I asked her what her focus is for the National Youth Education Department. She told me the following:

  1. To work diligently to be able to give full scholarships to graduating seniors in Triumph The Church And Kingdom Of God In Christ.

  2. To bridge the gap between new leadership and new youth, whose minds are like “new wine”, according to the scripture, “Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.” ~ Matthew 9:17

  3. Doctrine. The message of Life must be presented to youth on their level by gradual teaching and coincide with the written and revealed Word of God. The focus on Christ Jesus.

  4. Acceptance. “We can’t judge a book by the cover. I see it all. We will draw our youth by understanding where they are in their thinking and by way of their actions. We must come together with them and grow together.”

  5. Community. The National Youth Education Department must become more community-minded and more visible. We must find relevant initiatives to work on to collaborate with the community.

Mother Whittiker has the best interest of the NYED, the members, and the programs as a priority. She will continue to work to develop the department, along with her staff of youth supervisors and youth workers.

Mother Whittiker is married to Apostle Ronald L. Whittiker. She is the mother of seven adult children. She also has grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She can be reached at quickc@bellsouth.net.
